Xiangxi achieves annual output value of nearly 10 billion yuan in tea industry

The 33rd China Tea Science and Technology Annual Conference and the First Tea Culture Annual Conference were held in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture from October 18 to 19. Nearly a thousand experts, scholars, and representatives of tea companies from all over the country attended them. At the opening ceremony, the China Tea Science Society awarded “Five Star” certificates to 33 enterprises, the “China’s Capital of Ecological Golden Tea” to Xiangxi Prefecture, and “China’s Famous Ecological Tea” to Xiangxi Golden Tea.

After the opening ceremony, experts and scholars such as Liu Zhonghua and Xu Minggang, academicians of the CAE Member, shared the latest academic achievements on topics such as the anti-aging effect of tea and product development, organic agriculture and efficient application technology of organic fertilizer in tea gardens, and the ideological connotation that rural revitalization depends on industry prosperity.

The annual conferences focused on tea technology innovation, tea culture inheritance, and high-quality development of the tea industry, and aimed to establish an exchange and cooperation service platform to promote the transformation of tea technology achievements and explore new industrial models and driving forces. During the two-day conference, activities such as the tea culture annual conference, an talent information exchange meeting, an exhibition of technology achievements, and on-site observations and inspections were launched.

Xiangxi Prefecture has over 900,000 mu (about 60,000 hectares) of tea, ranking first in Hunan. Last year, it achieved a tea production of 19,800 tons, with a comprehensive output value of 9.823 billion yuan, which helped more than 600,000 tea farmers to increase their income.
